Saints Land 2019 American Association All-Star Game

CHS Field

The independent American Association is bringing back an All-Star Game for 2019, and it will be hosted in a familiar venue: CHS Field, home of the St. Paul Saints.

The circuit did not hold an All-Star Game this season, and in 2017 the American Association and Can-Am League held a joint All-Star Game hosted by the Ottawa Champions. So the last AA-only All-Star Game came in 2016, when it was hosted by the Saints. So the 2019 game will be historic: It’s the first time the same team has hosted consecutive All-Star Games within the American Association.

“We are so grateful to the American Association leadership and owners for entrusting us with this wonderful opportunity to host its premier event and to showcase our award-winning homes of CHS Field and the city of St. Paul,” said Derek Sharrer, Saints Executive Vice President and General Manager.  “We look forward to welcoming the league’s best players, coaches, executives, friends and families to our beautiful city for two days of great baseball, entertainment, food and fun.”

The 2019 game at CHS Field will give baseball fans a chance to see changes at our choice for Ballpark of the Year in 2015. Since that award, the Saints have upgraded the Craft Beer Corner and added a HealthPartners PowerUp Play Zone, among other changes.

Coming in 2019: a 2,300-square-foot museum celebrating the history of professional baseball in St. Paul dating back to the 19th century, which will feature a rooftop party deck atop a brand-new space attached to the third0-base side of the grandstand.

“We are tremendously excited to work with the St. Paul Saints,” said American Association Commissioner Miles Wolff. “They are one of the premiere franchises in all of baseball, and we couldn’t be happier to have the 2019 All Star Game at beautiful CHS Field.”

This will be the fourth time the Saints have hosted the All-Star game and third in the American Association. In addition to 2016, the Saints hosted the first Northern League All-Star Game on August 4, 1997 as the East defeated the West 2-1.
