New for 2015: Daytona Tortugas

Daytona Tortugas

We have a name for the former Daytona Cubs: the Daytona Tortugas (High Class A; Florida State League) will be taking the field at Jackie Robinson Ballpark in 2015.

Tortuga is Spanish for turtle, so expect lots of turtle-related themes at the ballpark this summer.

“This is an extremely exciting time here in Daytona,” Tortugas General Manager Josh Lawther said. “We couldn’t be happier with our new identity, logos and mascot, and the first few months of our partnership with the Cincinnati Reds have been fantastic.”

The logo and branding from Louisville-based Studio Simon was made necessary when the team’s longtime parent, Chicago Cubs, decided to leave the Florida State League for an affiliation with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (High Class A; Carolina League). The team’s new parent: the Cincinnati Reds.
