In Memoriam: Brian Glover

Brian Glover

Brian Glover, a former co-owner of the Fresno Grizzlies (Class AAA; Pacific Coast League), passed away Thursday after a car crash in rural Oregon. He was 52 years old.

The accident took place when Glover’s car crashed into an embankment in Washington County, OR. The Oregonian has reported that Oregon state troopers believe Glover could have suffered a medical incident before the crash, but the investigation is ongoing. There were no other occupants inside the vehicle.

Glover was an investor in the Grizzlies former ownership group, Fresno Baseball Club LLC, and served as a managing partner until 2013. In Fresno, Glover is being remembered for his contributions to the Grizzlies and the city’s sports scene as a whole. More from the Fresno Bee:

Glover was an initial investor in Fresno Baseball Club LLC., the group that took over the Grizzlies in 2005. He remained with the organization as a managing partner until 2013. Along with Chris Cummings, Glover was part of several other sports franchises, including the Fresno Falcons and Fuego.

The Grizzlies issued the following statement on Monday, recognizing his contributions to the franchise while offering condolences to family and friends:

We are shocked and saddened due to the sudden passing of Brian Glover.  Many of our remaining front office staff worked alongside Brian under the prior Grizzlies ownership.  Brian’s commitment and effort to the franchise as a past owner cannot be overstated.  So many of the community efforts still going strong today were due to his leadership, especially the ‘Junior Grizzlies’ baseball program for special needs players and construction of the ‘Field of Dreams’ in Clovis.  That will always be a part of Brian’s legacy with the Grizzlies, and it hurts to lose a member of the Fresno Grizzlies family.  Our sincerest condolences go out to his family and close friends.
