A time-lapse camera has been installed near the site of Globe Life Field, allowing fans to follow the construction of the Texas Rangers future home.
In September, the Rangers broke ground on Globe Life Field. That was a major step in the process of building the new retractable-roof ballpark, which is slated to open in time for the 2020 season.
With construction unfolding, there is now a new way to follow its progress. A time-lapse camera for the project was installed earlier this week, and more are expected to be added down the road. More from The Dallas Morning News:
The camera feed went online Wednesday and allows viewers to zoom in on different angles available through the feed. The camera is mounted on the back of the right-field video board of Globe Life Park — the Rangers’ home until the 2020 season — and provides a view looking south on the 13-acre Globe Life Field site.
Two more cameras are in the works — one mounted on AT&T Stadium that faces east and one on a utility pole on Stadium Drive that will face west, Rangers officials said.
The camera can be viewed 24 hours a day at texasrangers.com/globelifefield. At its current pace, Globe Life Field is expected to be the first new ballpark in the majors to open since the debut of Atlanta’s SunTrust Park in 2017.
