RoughRiders, UberEATS Unveil In-Seat Concessions Ordering

UberEATS and RoughRiders

The Frisco RoughRiders (Class AA; Texas League) and UberEATS announced a new partnership where Dr Pepper Ballpark patrons can order concessions directly from their seats via the UberEATS app.

UberEATS, of course, is the food-delivery service created by rideshare leader Uber, taking advantage of existing Uber drivers to deliver food on demand. That ability is being extended to RoughRiders fans at Dr Pepper Ballpark. UberEATS is offered throughout Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Irving, Plano, Grapevine, Richardson, Frisco, Garland and Addison, and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

It’s being hailed as a first in professional baseball (the Uber partnership, not in-app ordering) and in the state of Texas, and runs through the remainder of the 2017 season. For UberEATS, the arrangement is a test run and may be rolled out nationally. The appeal for the RoughRiders: instead of requiring the download of another app for food ordering, fans can do it via an app they already use. In-seat ordering is a hot trend in the sports world, and the thought is that this approach can be replicated in other sports facilities.

“Partnering with UberEATS is another innovative undertaking for the RoughRiders franchise and our fans,” RoughRiders Chief Operating Officer Scott Burchett said. “We look forward to RoughRiders fans enjoying UberEATS from their homes and the convenience of their seats at Dr Pepper Ballpark.”

“UberEATS is a food delivery app that makes getting food from your favorite restaurants to your family’s dinner table easy,” UberEATS DFW General Manager Jordan Chapman said. “We are grateful to partner with the Frisco RoughRiders to help fans enjoy their time at Dr Pepper Ballpark even more.”

The process is simple. An UberEATS Express Line is opening at the Budweiser Bar inside Dr Pepper Ballpark. Fans can use the UberEATS app to order from a select menu of items and pay from their seats, and pick up their order at the UberEATS Express Line without waiting.

UberEATS also becomes the exclusive sponsor of the RoughRiders’ live pregame “Riders Report,” a five-minute segment shown on the left-field video board prior to each game, and receives additional promotional support throughout Dr Pepper Ballpark.
