Barons announce front-office additions

Birmingham BaronsThe Birmingham Barons (Class AA; Southern League) announced four staff additions and four interns for the 2011 season, as the front office preps for another season at Regions Park.

Andrew Cornutt becomes the Barons’ new Corporate Event Planner after working for the NBA’s Orlando Magic as a Ticket Sales Representative since 2008.  The University of Alabama graduate also spent a year with Elite Promotions Group, Inc. as an Account Mantager/Sale Representative handling marketing and promotion campaigns for the Atlanta Braves, New Orleans Hornets and Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. The Boaz, AL native now resides in Birmingham with his fiancée, Katie.

David Krakower returns to professional athletics as the Barons’ Sales and Marketing Assistant after a two-year run as Director of Client Relations for the West End Art Gallery in Davie, FL. The University of Missouri graduate began his career in pro sports sales with a four-year stint as a Ticket Sales Representative and Ticket Sales Coordinator for the Detroit Tigers. Following his time with the Tigers, the Boca Raton, FL native spent three seasons with the Florida Marlins as a Senior Account Executive. After one season in the Golden Baseball League with the Mesa Miners as their Assistant General Manager, Krakower served as Manager of Advertising Sales for the NHL’s Florida Panthers. He resides in Birmingham with his wife, Andrea, and son, Shawn.

Adam C. Nichols tackles the role as the Barons’ Media Relations Director after spending 2010 as the Spring Training Media Relations Intern for Chicago White Sox and his third season as a Media Relations Assistant for Major League Baseball’s Arizona Fall League. The Eastern Nazarene College graduate began his professional career as a Press Box Intern for Jupiter Stadium, Ltd. in 2007, where his roles included handling press box operations for the Florida Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals’ spring training games and the media relations contact for St. Louis’ Class-A Advanced Palm Beach Cardinals. The Granville, OH native also spent the 2008 season with the Albuquerque Isotopes and the 2009 campaign with the Charleston RiverDogs in the same capacity.  He is single and resides in Alabaster.

Jordan Norville undertakes the role as the Barons’ Assistant Groundskeeper after a year at the Longwood Cricket Club in Boston, MA.  The University of Illinois graduate spent the 2008 season as a groundskeeper intern for the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park and spent 2009 campaign at Roger Dean Stadium, the spring training home of the Florida Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals, in the same capacity.  The Pontiac, IL native lives in Birmingham.

The Barons welcome four full-time interns for the 2011 season; Andrew Marsh, Mickal Terry, Brad Viger and Ryan Warton. Marsh, a native of Dawson, GA and graduate of Darton College, becomes the Barons’ new Ticketing Assistant. Terry, a native of Baytown, TX and graduate of Sam Houston State University, is the new Marketing Assistant.  Viger, a native of Vestavia Hills, AL and graduate of the University of Alabama, takes the reigns as the new Stadium Operations Assistant. Warton, a native of Cleveland, OH and graduate of the University of Akron, is set to be the new Marketing Assistant.
