Construction crews lifted the final retractable roof truss at Globe Life Field this morning, yielding the latest sign of progress on the upcoming Texas Rangers home.
Set to open next March, Globe Life Field will become the new home of the Rangers. With the ballpark’s opener about five months away, construction continues at its site, where crews have lifted the final retractable roof truss into place, according to information supplied by the Rangers today. This action completes the retractable roof truss lifts on the 5.5 acre roof, and construction on the ballpark is now 80% complete.
Work on Globe Life Field is being overseen by Manhattan Construction Company, the Construction Manager of the project. HKS is the design architect for Globe Life Field.
The new 1.8 million square foot ballpark is located on 13 acres just south of the Globe Life Park in Arlington, the Rangers’ home through the 2019 season. Globe Life Field is currently expected to open in March 2020. The Rangers are scheduled to play an exhibition game there against the St. Louis Cardinals on March 23, before facing the Los Angeles Angels in the regular-season home opener on March 31.
When it opens, Globe Life Field will be MLB’s first new ballpark since 2017’s opening of Atlanta’s SunTrust Park.
