The Texas Rangers have released new renderings of the upcoming Globe Life Field, showing how the ballpark will tie into the Texas Live! development.
Currently under construction, the retractable-roof Globe Life Field is slated to open for the Rangers in 2020. A key part of the surrounding area will be Texas Live!, a development from the Rangers and Baltimore-based Cordish Companies that will include bars, restaurants, entertainment venues, and eventually a hotel.
Texas Live! and the North Plaza are expected to open next month. As shown in plans unveiled by the Rangers on Thursday, the North Plaza will be a key component in eventually connecting Texas Live! and its amenities with Globe Life Field once the new ballpark is completed. More from NBCDFW.com:
The Texas Rangers released new renderings of Globe Life Field and Texas Live! Thursday, showing off the North Plaza which will be the north entrance to the new ballpark.
The granite and concrete North Plaza, complete with six towers and large video boards, is nearing completion and will open to the public along with Texas Live! on Thursday, Aug. 9.
The plaza will also house a fountain that is 60 feet 6 inches in diameter, the same distance from home plate to the pitcher’s mound, where programmed water shows can be performed.
The Rangers broke ground on Globe Life Field last September, and are anticipating that its construction will be completed in time for Opening Day 2020. Once it is complete, Globe Life Field will replace the nearby Globe Life Park in Arlington as the Rangers’ home.
