As they prepare for the opening of their new ballpark in 2018, the Augusta GreenJackets (Low A; Sally League) are reporting strong sales numbers.
The GreenJackets continue to make plans for their move to North Augusta, SC, where they will play in a ballpark that is being constructed as part of Riverside Village. To mark the progress that was being made on the facility’s construction, officials held a groundbreaking ceremony in May, not long after the GreenJackets revealed that their suites at the ballpark had already sold out.
In the time period since, the GreenJackets have continued to see strong interest from prospective ticket holders. Season ticket sales are already increasing, and the team recently sold out its VIP box seat area behind home plate. More from The Augusta Chronicle:
“We’ve been fortunate that it’s something the community has definitely grabbed on to,” GreenJackets general manager Tom Denlinger said. “We’ve sold 25 percent of the new stadium, which puts us at more season ticket holders than we have now. That’s a great place to be.”
In addition to already surpassing current season ticket sales, the team has sold out entire sections of the stadium. President Jeff Eiseman announced in May during a local presentation that premier second-level suites were already sold out. Denlinger said they sold out the VIP box seat section behind home plate this past week.
The first base club area is 75 percent sold, and they’ll soon start selling the third base club section. Denlinger said the new stadium will have about 4,100 seats. Lake Olmstead has 4,822 seats.
“There’s a great demand and, as things go along, now is the time to get involved,” Denlinger said. “The CSRA has definitely rallied around the new ballpark and is getting ready for celebrating moving to bigger and better things.”
As noted, the ballpark is slated to open next year. It is being constructed as part of the Riverside Village development that will also include a hotel, Class “A” office space, residences, restaurants, retail, and more. The GreenJackets are in the midst of what is slated to be their final season at Augusta, GA’s Lake Olmstead Stadium.
