This may have made more sense coming out of Winnipeg, but in a year filled with food-related team takeovers, we have a cool one at PNC Field, where the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Pierogies will take the field on Aug. 26.
A pierogie (or perogy, as they’d say at Shaw Park, home of the Winnipeg Goldeyes) is a stuffed dumpling, an Eastern European pot sticker. (Here in Madison, the Russian equivalent is pelmeni.) In Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the RailRiders have a whole promotion based on the humble pierogi. Bravo! Rock on, humble pierogie.
If you can’t be in Moosic on Aug. 26, you can order your Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Pierogies merchandise here.
