Pelicans monetize canine mascot with sponsorship

DeuceWell, this is taking the whole dogs at the ballpark thing to a new level: Deuce, canine mascot for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (High Class A; Carolina League), will have a sponsor for the 2015 season in the form of Camp Bow Wow.

We last wrote about Deuce in our Promotions Watch column covering dogs at the ballpark. Today the team announced that Camp Bow Wow Myrtle Beach will be the official Deuce’s official sponsor.

Deuce, an English Yellow Labrador Retriever and the official dog mascot of the Pelicans since 2008, delivers baseballs to the umpires twice a game and runs the bases after each Pelicans win. He is the teams second dog mascot; Dinger served in a similar role beginning in 1999 until 2009 when he passed away. Since Dinger’s passing, Deuce has been the centerpiece of the Home Run Dog family.

In addition to in-park recognition, Camp Bow Wow Myrtle Beach will be the official sponsor of the new Deuce Facebook Page. Camp Bow Wow Myrtle Beach and All 4 Paws, a local dog and cat rescue organization, will be at the TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark during the teams two Bark in the Park nights. Finally, each Saturday home game, Camp Bow Wow Myrtle Beach will recognize a Furry Friend of the Game (with prizes awarded to each furry friend).
