Outlook mixed on new Loudoun County ballpark

Public response to a proposed Atlantic League ballpark in Loudoun County seems to be enthusiastic, but some elected officials and environmentalists wonder whether the project is necessary.

Public response to a proposed Atlantic League ballpark in Loudoun County seems to be enthusiastic, but some elected officials and environmentalists wonder whether the project is necessary.

The issue: the ballpark is part of the larger Kincora project. a 314-acre mixed-use development with 1,400 residential units, office space and the ballpark at the center. The site requires rezoning from the county, as well as roadwork assistance.

We're guessing that if VIP Baseball came forward with just a proposal for a new ballpark, county officials and environmentalists would not care. But the ballpark is tied closely into the controversial development — for better or worse.
