BayBears, Blue Wahoos unveil Bay to Bay Series

Bay to Bay Series

The beginning of a nice rivalry: The Mobile BayBears and Pensacola Blue Wahoos (Class AA; Southern League) are launching a Bay to Bay Series, with events at both team homes this season.

Fans can expect several rivalry themed promotions at both ballparks this year, including BayBears fans versus Blue Wahoos fans in-game contests, promotions and series leader boards.

The Bay-to-Bay Series is the very first joint-sponsored, event-based rivalry program in Minor League Baseball. Hank Aaron Stadium in Mobile and Maritime Park in Pensacola are just one hour a part from each other.

The Bay-to-Bay Series begins Tuesday, April 10 as Pensacola travels to Mobile to face the BayBears at 7:05 p.m., in the home opener for the defending Southern League Champions. The BayBears and Blue Wahoos will square off in a five-game series from April 10-14 as they play the first of 22 games against each other this season.

Several bus trips are also planned for the two Gulf Coast teams’ fans.

The “Bay to Bay Series” name and brand were brought to life at Brandiose in San Diego, where partners Jason Klein and Casey White dreamed up the logos and uniforms for the BayBears, Blue Wahoos and the Blue Wahoos’ Major League affiliate, the Cincinnati Reds.

“The Gulf Coast is no stranger to heated hometown rivalries,” said Brandiose’s Jason Klein. “In Mobile, it’s the pride, heritage and rich history of more than 100 years of baseball. Cross the state line you’re facing a brand new team with hometown fans with a baseball rich tradition as well. The Bay-to-Bay Series is going to be an exciting feud.”
