Ballpark Digest is previewing what every MLB team is doing to begin the season, both on and off the field, as the 2019 season is underway. Up next: the Detroit Tigers and Comerica Park.
Working with concessionaire Delaware North Sportservice, the Tigers have spruced up the menu at Comerica Park with several distinct new food items.
One of the highlights for the 2019 season is the new Coney Dog Eggroll (shown above). This offering features hot dog and chili, topped with classic mustard and diced onions, wrapped inside a crispy eggroll. Fans can find this item at the Food Court Midtown location.
This season will also see the introduction of the Al Pastor Dog, a natural casing hot dog with a slate of toppings that includes smoked pulled pork, pineapple relish, sriracha aioli, and cojita cheese. It will be sold in the Food Court Downtown location, which is also debuting the new Bahn Mi. The Bahn Mi features a thick slab of bacon, topped with Asian slaw and sriracha aioli.
Elsewhere in Comerica Park’s Food Court, the Corktown Location will feature new plant-based options. That includes the Beyond Burger and the Beyond Burger Bowl, the latter of which offers a plant-based burger served in a bowl with a bed of lettuce, tomatoes, onions and a pickle balsamic dressing.
For desert, fans can head to Guernsey Ice Cream and find two new flavors, including Blue Moon and Detroit Grand Slam. Another desert option is the new Zeppole, featuring sweet deep-fried Italian pastry dough balls served with chocolate dipping sauce. It will be available at the Food Court Midway Location.
At the Michigan Craft Beer location at Section 101, fans will find a few new food and drink options. Among the new food items this season are smoked chicken wings and french onion topped fries, while drink offerings are being expanded to include flights. With the flight option, fans will be able to sample three seven-ounce craft beers.
In addition, the Tigers have brought some new items to Comerica Park’s Grab ‘N Go section. Those include Garden Salad Jars, which come with fresh spring mix, cheese, and vegetables in ranch dressing–all served in a jar that is to be shaken (chicken can also be added to the salad). A variation of that item is the Garden and Grain Salad Jars, which take offerings from the Garden Salad Jars and adds in a mix that includes quinoa, farro, and brown rice. Other items can be found here as well, including Fresh Fruit Cups and healthy snack options such as Sabra hummus.
Fans who get through the gates at Comerica Park early this season will find a new special, as the Tigers are introducing the Home Run Happy Hour. Lasting for the first hour after gates open, the Home Run Happy Hour will offer discounted pricing, such as $5 specialty cocktails, $3 24-ounce Pepsi products and Aquafina water, $5 jumbo dog and 1/4 lb. burger baskets, and more. Home Run Happy Hour pricing will be offered every home game on the Pepsi Porch in right field, including in the Copper Craft Bar and Miller Lite Pitcher’s Pub:
