Ballpark Digest is previewing what every MLB team is doing to begin the season, both on and off the field, as the 2018 campaign is underway. Up next: the Boston Red Sox and Fenway Park.
The Boston Red Sox have fine-tuned their offerings at Fenway Park, giving Major League Baseball’s oldest ballpark some new amenities for 2018. New seating and group spaces are among the slate of changes, which also include a refined food menu and updates to existing areas.
This year, the Red Sox have made various changes to their seating options at Fenway Park. On the first base side, the team is debuting the Jim Beam Dugout—a field-level group space just beyond the Red Sox’s dugout. Accommodating groups of 25 people, the Jim Beam Dugout will feature touches that replicate the look and feel of an actual dugout, from bats and helmets to a Gatorade cooler.
Down the left field line, Fenway Park will feature a new row of seating. Located beyond the visitors’ dugout, the row extends between field box sections 72 and 79, accommodating 30 new seats. All of the seats will be located behind protective netting, which has been extended at Fenway Park for 2018.
Along with those changes, the Red Sox have made some adjustments to existing areas. The Red Sox and Coca-Cola worked to enhance the existing Coca-Cola Corner spaces in left field, with a green artificial turf flooring, new picnic tables and chairs, and a vintage Coca-Cola trailer among the prominent touches at the Coca-Cola Deck. Meanwhile, Samuel Adams is the new sponsor of the rebranded right field roof deck, which is now known as the Sam Deck. Along with a variety of Sam Adams beers, the space will feature some unique food items, including but not limited to Sam Adams infused beef chili, and steak frites with Sam Adams marinated Savenor’s prime steak tip.
Sam Adams branding will also be prominent at Sammy’s on Third, a bar area that replaces the 3rd Base Saloon near Gate E. Sammy’s on Third is expected to feature a variety of craft beers, including Samuel Adams offerings. The relationship between the team and Samuel Adams is strong, as Samuel Adams is serving as the Official Beer of the Boston Red Sox.
In conjunction with Aramark, the Red Sox are introducing some new food items at Fenway Park. One of the highlights among this year’s additions is the Crème Brulee French Toast. Named one of our top new food items of 2018, the Crème Brulee French Toast features house-made pastry cream, chocolate ganache, Vermont maple syrup and Fenway Farm’s strawberry sauce, topped with powdered sugar.
As part of its push to introduce taco trios at its ballparks, Aramark is rolling out a taco trio that is specific to Fenway Park. The seasoned pulled chicken taco trio at Fenway Park features braised organic Savenor’s chicken, fresh pico de gallo, pickled slaw and chipotle sour cream, served in flour tortillas.
Fans can also look for an expanded build-your-own salad bar this year, along with a new healthy deli and veggie stand on the 3rd Base Deck. That stand will offer items such as veggie dogs and burgers, deli sandwich varieties, and more.
