Ballpark Digest is previewing what every MLB team is doing to begin the season, both on and off the field, as the 2018 campaign is underway. Up next: the Pittsburgh Pirates and PNC Park.
With a new season getting underway at PNC Park, the Pittsburgh Pirates are introducing a variety of changes that should improve the ballpark’s food and beverage offerings.
Leading up to this season, the Pirates worked with their concessionaire partners to refine the food menu at PNC Park. Levy Restaurants—which handles all premium locations at PNC Park—has introduced some new menu items. Meanwhile, Aramark—which oversees food and beverage services in the ballpark’s general admission areas—is also implementing some changes.
New menu items will be introduced at several premium locations of PNC Park., including the Rivendale Suite Level, Lexus Club, and Pittsburgh Baseball Club. On the Rivendale Suite Level, fans can expect to see a variety of new options—including a Baja Nacho Platter that can be served in traditional, smoked chicken, or pulled pork varieties. Another unique item in this area will be the Summer Grilled Veggie Pretzel Flatbread, which features grilled zucchini, yellow squash, sweet onions, roasted peppers, shaved romaine basil pesto aioli, and parmesan on a toasted pretzel flatbread.
Other premium areas will see new food options, and changes to food and beer menus have been made on the Pittsburgh Baseball Club level. This year, the ballpark’s club level will feature 30 different craft beers from local breweries, a slate that includes but is not limited to Fatheads, Full Pint, East End Brewing Company, and Great Lakes.
Another major change for this year is the rebranded Jim Beam Left Field Lounge, which was formerly known as the Hall of Fame Club. Open to all ticket holders, the Jim Beam Left Field Lounge comes with a unique slate of new food menu options, spanning from Vegan Greens and Grains to Campfire Nachos. Campfire Nachos will feature graham crackers topped with chocolate chips and marshmallows. Aramark is also rolling out some other unique options at PNC Park, including a Pulled Pork Pierogie Hoagie and the Nashville Hot Chicken Taco Trio.
Not all of the changes at PNC Park are focused on food. By partnering with Fanatics and Gensler, the Pirates redesigned and expanded their Pittsburgh Pirates Clubhouse Store. Within the redesigned store will be several specialized spaces, including a kids area and a customization area.
