Ballpark Digest is previewing what every MLB team is doing to begin the season, both on and off the field, as the 2018 campaign launches today. Up next: the Toronto Blue Jays and Rogers Centre.

For fans of the Toronto Blue Jays, there will be some changes both at and away from Rogers Centre in 2018. Beloved broadcaster Jerry Howarth announced his retirement over the offseason, leaving Blue Jays fans with a new voice on the team’s radio broadcasts. Howarth’s retirement has resulted in a move up to the majors for Ben Wagner, a veteran of 11 seasons with the Buffalo Bisons (Class AAA; International League) who has been named the Blue Jays’ new radio voice on the Sportsnet Radio Network. Wagner comes to Toronto with considerable knowledge of the organization, as the Bisons have been Toronto’s Class AAA affiliate since 2013.

That shakeup in the broadcast booth results in a major transition for fans listening to games away from the Rogers Centre. For fans at the ballpark, there will be some interesting additions this year, highlighted by new menu offerings.

Leading up to this season, the Blue Jays and Aramark introduced a wide range of cuisine that will be served at the Rogers Centre. That mix–which topped our best new food options for 2018 countdown–spans a range from sandwiches to deserts. One of the more notable additions is the Log Cabin Waffle Sandwich, an offering that features rosemary scented waffles stuffed with pulled pork, cheese curds and maple baked beans, and topped with mole sauce.

For some other options, fan can seek out the Vegan’Acho Nacho, featuring red and white tortilla chips topped with vegan cheese, black beans, guacamole and pico de gallo. Also in the mix this year is the Distillery Poutine, a dish that includes potato tots topped with pulled pork, cheese curds, whiskey-raisin gravy and green onions. For desert, there is the Jane Dough Cookie Dough, an Aramark staple that features edible cookie dough and can be ordered with or without soft serve ice cream.

Fans can also expected a distinct taco trio. Aramark is introducing taco trios at several ballparks across Major League Baseball this season, and have a unique one in place at the Rogers Centre. Toronto’s Korean Beef Taco Trio will featured Korean beef, topped with slaw and cilantro.
