Ballpark Digest is previewing what every MLB team is doing to begin the season, both on and off the field, as the 2018 campaign launches this week. Up next: the Detroit Tigers and Comerica Park.
The Detroit Tigers are mixing up their food menu this year at Comerica Park. The beginning of the 2018 season will be marked by the introduction of some unique food options, spanning from twists on ballpark classics to creative sandwiches and desserts.
Hot dogs are a ballpark staple, but Comerica Park will offer a unique variation on the traditional fare this year. One new menu item introduced by the Tigers and Delaware North is the Ode to Detroit Dog, a natural casing hot dog that is topped with brisket chili, habanero queso cheese sauce, and scallions.
Ode to Detroit Dog, named one of our top new food items of the 2018 season, will be a highlight among a mix that covers a wide span of options. A Nacho Burger will be served on a brioche bun, and topped with cheddar cheese, cojita cheese, tortilla chips, salsa and jalapeños. Buffalo Cauliflower will also be available, as will a Brisket and Cheddar Stuffed Cornbread Muffin, and a Sy Ginsberg Corned Beef Sandwich. Comerica Park’s menu offerings will also include Nutella Egg Roll, Apple Pie Egg Roll, and a Donut Ice Cream Sandwich, which will feature cake donut with a scoop of Guernsey Ice Cream.
While food is a focal point at Comerica Park this year, the Tigers have refined a few other aspects of the gameday experience. New for 2018 is the Rooftop Deck, a group area located above the Pitcher’s Pub in right field that can accommodate groups of 100 to 150. Meanwhile, the Tigers are taking a different approach this year with the Chevrolet Pavilion, as that area will now host groups from the time gates open through the game’s final out.
The 2018 season will also see the Tigers put their own spin on the Ballpark Pass ticketing option. Pricing for ballpark passes will begin at $29.99 per month for a subscription that guarantees standing room only admission, while a $49.99 per month option will provide a guaranteed seat.
Ticket delivery will take place through the MLB Ballpark App, with seating options for the $49.99 per month subscription including Outfield Box, Lower Baseline Box, Upper Box, Mezzanine, Pavilion, Right Field Grandstand, Upper Grandstand and Upper Reserved Infield. Tigers Digital Ballpark Passes will grant fans admission to every home game from April-September.
