2018 Preview: Texas Rangers, Globe Life Park

Dilly Dilly Dog

Ballpark Digest is previewing what every MLB team is doing to begin the season, both on and off the field, as the 2018 campaign launches this week. Up next: the Texas Rangers and Globe Life Park in Arlington.

When it comes to new food items, the Texas Rangers are taking some bold steps this year at Globe Life Park in Arlington. In advance of their regular-season debuts, some of the club’s new food options have attracted plenty of attention, meaning that Arlington could be a destination for baseball fans and food lovers alike in 2018.

The Globe Life Park menu addition generating the most preseason hype is the Dilly Dog. As conceived by the Rangers and Delaware North, the Dilly Dog is an Angus beef jumbo dog that is stuffed inside of a hollowed-out pickle, and then battered and deep fried. The offering was recently named one of our top new food items for the 2018 MLB season, and figures to be a sought-after option at the ballpark this year.

There are also some other interesting food items in the works at Globe Life Park. Among those are a Cheetos Jalapeño Bacon Dog, vegan nachos, Home Run Ham Fries, and a Vegan Top N Go Frito Pie. For the beef and BBQ lover, there is The Triple B—an offering that features bacon, brisket, and bologna, topped with Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce. For desert, the Rangers will offer a Rold Gold waffle cone, a waffle cone mixed with Rold Gold pretzels.

New menu options will also be found at Rebecca Creek Saloon, a two-level, 4,000-square-foot area located inside of Globe Life Park. Among some of the new selections this year include the Rebecca Creek Bacon Jam Burger, Poblano Burger, and Rebecca Creek Smoked Barbecue. These items can be paired with the Rebecca Creek Distillery spirits sold in Rebecca Creek Saloon, which is located in left centerfield and is open to all ticket holders during Rangers’ home games.

For the next few years, the Rangers will be planning their move to Globe Life Field, a new retractable-roof ballpark that is be constructed just outside of Globe Life Park. While the Rangers are not slated to open the new ballpark until 2020, the team will provide a glimpse into the future this year. Starting with the 2018 season, Globe Life Park will feature an observation deck that allows fans to see the ongoing construction of Glove Life Field and Texas Live!, an adjacent entertainment complex.

The observation deck will be located on the upper right field concourse and will be available to all fans during home games.
