SRP Park‘s first major event appears poised for success, as tickets for the ballpark’s college game between Clemson and Georgia quickly sold out.
While it is opening as the new home of the Augusta GreenJackets (Low A; Sally League), SRP Park’s first major event will be the college matchup between Clemson and Georgia on April 10. Details about the game were announced in September, and tickets went on sale on Wednesday morning.
Within a short time of being made available to the public, the tickets sold out, effectively building more anticipation for the game. More from the Aiken Standard:
Matt Szczupakowski, ticket sales manager for the GreenJackets said online sales sold out in a matter of minutes. The entire game sold out in about two hours, he said.
“We are packed to the brim at SRP Park,” said Szczupakowski, “It’s going to be really really exciting.”
SRP Park is being constructed as part of the larger Riverside Village development in North Augusta, SC, which is expected to be built out over time to include amenities such as a hotel, housing, retail, and more. The GreenJackets, who are moving to the ballpark after spending years seeking a replacement for Lake Olmstead Stadium, will play their first game there on April 12.
