Construction of SRP Park is 80% complete, putting it on pace to be ready for the Augusta GreenJackets (Low A; Sally League) in April. That is according to a status update from the City of North Augusta.
Currently under construction, SRP Park is slated to open for the 2018 season and replace Lake Olmstead Stadium as the home of the GreenJackets. The ballpark is being conceived as part of the larger Riverside Village development, which is expected to be built out over time to include amenities such as a hotel, housing, retail, and more.
While some components of the project–including parts of the Left Field Building, as well as a parking deck for the ballpark–are not expected to be fully completed by Opening Day, SRP Park is on track to begin hosting the GreenJackets in April. More from The Augusta Chronicle:
The “Left Field Building,” which will house the baseball team’s clubhouse and offices and apartments overlooking the field, is 30 percent complete. The clubhouse is expected to be complete by opening day in April, with the offices following in June and the apartments by November.
Three projects are behind the schedule set by the Riverside Village Master Development Agreement: the stadium parking deck, another office building and the senior living facility.
City officials have said the hotel parking deck, which is 30 percent complete, and the completed Medac deck will handle stadium parking until its parking deck is done. It has been started and is 5 percent complete, according to the status update. Its completion schedule has been changed from April to December.
The hotel deck is 30 percent complete and expected to be complete by April. So far, $7.6 million has been spent on it.
SRP Park’s South Atlantic League debut is scheduled for April 12, when the GreenJackets host the Lexington Legends. The ballpark will be the site a college game prior to that date, as Clemson and Georgia are set to square off at SRP Park on April 10.
