On Friday, the Daytona Tortugas (High A; Florida State League) will honor the late broadcaster Craig Sager by hosting SagerStrong Night.
This season the Daytona Tortugas have become the best-dressed team in Minor League Baseball, debuting an industry-high 11 specialty jerseys. In honor of the life of legendary sports announcer Craig Sager, the Tortugas will pay tribute to a man who was always well dressed.
The Tortugas have partnered with the SagerStrong Foundation to honor Craig with SagerStrong Night at The Jack on Friday, July 21. In attendance will be Sager’s family, including his wife Stacy, donned in their own Tortugas Sager-themed jerseys. The entire Tortugas team will also be wearing the SagerStrong themed jerseys that night, which will be auctioned off to benefit the SagerStrong Foundation.
In addition, local NBA star, and 8x All Star, Vince Carter will be in attendance to throw out a first pitch prior and host a pregame meet and greet.
ESPN will be at The Jack Friday to cover this historic event. It marks the first time ESPN has covered a game in Daytona.
The Tortugas are offering two unique ticket packages for this special night. One includes an exclusive SagerStrong Tortugas T-Shirt, with part of the proceeds being donated to the SagerStrong Foundation. The other ticket package will allow fans early access to the Vince Carter meet and greet.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM against the Jupiter Hammerheads.
