A major milestone has been completed for the Frisco RoughRiders’ (Class AA; Texas League) Choctaw Lazy River, which is now filled with more than 68,000 gallons of water. This puts the much-anticipated project on target for its June 11 opening.
Back in April, our own Jarah Wright provided an update on the construction for the Choctaw Lazy River, which will be a unique addition to Dr Pepper Ballpark. As part of a 12,000 square foot outfield party and hospitality area, the Choctaw Lazy River will itself span over 3,000 square feet, giving it enough room to hold over one million baseballs.
The project has managed to stay on schedule over the last few months, as the RoughRiders officially unveiled the Choctaw Lazy River in February.
“Despite some rainy weather in the area over the last few weeks, Gold Medal Pools has done a tremendous job keeping us on schedule and ready to open next week,” said RoughRiders General Partner & CEO Chuck Greenberg. “The entire area has progressed exactly as planned and we cannot wait to share this extraordinary signature ballpark element with our fans.”
The new area will be the most all-inclusive gameday hospitality experience in the entire DFW market. Groups of 25-200 are eligible to reserve part or all of the Lazy River and Cabana Bar & Patio. No matter the size of the group, all Choctaw Lazy River guests will enjoy full 360-degree river access, a 2 1/2-hour all-you-can-eat buffet, complimentary Dr Pepper products, and a pair of RoughRiders sunglasses. Beer and wine is included for groups that purchase either the Cabana Bar & Patio or the entire area.
During the remaining Thursday RoughRiders home games, fans can gain access to the Choctaw Lazy River with a “Thursday Night Pool Party” ticket. For only $39 per ticket, this ticket allows individuals to enjoy full 360-degree Lazy River access, pre-game live music, and all-you-can-eat hot dogs, brats, chips, peanuts, and Dr Pepper products. Plus, each Thursday is “Thirsty Thursday,” offering $1 select domestic drafts and $2 craft beers from 6-8 p.m. for a 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
