More affiliation news is out, as the Stockton Ports (High A; California League) and the Oakland A’s are set to continue their partnership through 2020. This extension is for four seasons, as the current deal between the Ports and the A’s was set to expire after the 2016 campaign.
That the Ports and the A’s will continue their affiliation is hardly a surprise. The two clubs first formed their partnership back in 2005, the Ports’ first season at Banner Island Ballpark.
“It has been a pleasure to be a partner with the Oakland A’s since the ballpark opened in 2005. We have fielded competitive teams, provided many memorable moments for our fans both on the field and off, and have developed long-term relationships with Oakland’s on-field and off-field personnel that we look forward to continuing over the next four years,” said Ports President Pat Filippone who made the announcement prior to this evening’s game. “The Ports organization is proud that our Major League affiliate, along with our four Champion Partners, have been with us since day one of Banner Island Ballpark.”
The Stockton Ports are one of the A’s five minor league affiliates, joining the Triple-A Nashville Sounds (Pacific Coast League), Double-A Midland RockHounds (Texas League), Low-A Beloit Snappers (Midwest League), and Short-Season Vermont Lake Monsters (New-York Penn League).
