Always known for their original tributes to TV shows, the Brooklyn Cyclones (Short Season A; NY-Penn League) are at it again, this time with a Full House theme night. On July 9, the Cyclones will stage Brooklyn Fill the House, an homage to the former ABC sitcom Full House and its reboot, Netflix’s Fuller House.
As part of the promotion, the Cyclones will take the field wearing a Full House jersey that includes a foggy image of the Golden Gate Bridge on the front with a show-inspired Brooklyn script. The back of the jersey, meanwhile, will feature a tribute to Uncle Jesse’s wallpaper, including a pink bunny.
Of course, the night will include much more than the jersey. A John Stamos bobblehead will be given out to the first 2,500 fans in attendance. There will also be several other offerings that honor Full House, including an on-field ceremony for 25 couples married in the year 1991 (which coincides with Jesse and Becky’s anniversary), an air-guitar contest, and, as a tribute to Michelle Tanner and The Olsen Twins, two-for-one ticket specials for twins who purchase admission at the stadium’s box office.
The Cyclones are also offering a limited number of ticket packages that will give fans a field box seat, plus the bobblehead and a replica of the jersey for $40. Additional information about the promotion, including a rendering of the bobblehead, will be revealed at a later date.
Brooklyn Fill the House is the latest from the Cyclones, a team that has had success with TV tribute nights in the past. The Cyclones have received significant coverage—and drawn big crowds for—their Seinfeld nights, and they successfully staged a homage to Saved By the Bell last season.
Given what the Cyclones and other teams have accomplished, the trend of TV tribute nights is only spreading around the minors. The Frisco RoughRiders (Class AA; Texas League) staged an elaborate Full House tribute last year, when a wide variety of shows, including Saturday Night Live and Game of Thrones, received celebrations of their own. Given the success of these promotions, it is reasonable to expect that many more will be revealed this season.
