The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (Low A; Midwest League) and Colorado Springs Sky Sox (Class AAA; Pacific Coast League) are sticking with their current radio partners in anticipation of the 2016 season.
In Appleton, the Timber Rattlers are sticking with WNAM 1280 AM.
“This was an easy decision to make,” said Timber Rattlers president Rob Zerjav. “This relationship has been good for all parties involved, especially our fans. We look forward to continuing this partnership into the next decade.”
The 2016 season will be the eighth straight season WNAM will carry all Timber Rattlers games — home and away; regular season and playoffs. Broadcasts begin with the pre-game show 20 minutes before the scheduled first pitch.
Fans out of the extensive listening area of WNAM will be able to hear all the action through the IHeartRadio app and the TuneIn Radio app, too.
Chris Mehring will begin his seventeenth season as the play-by-play broadcaster of the Timber Rattlers when the team start the 2016 season at Beloit on Thursday, April 7.
In Colorado Springs, XTRA Sports 1300 will continue as the flagship radio station for all broadcasts of Sky Sox baseball through the 2018 season.
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Cumulus while bringing our exciting brand of baseball and future major league stars to our radio flagship, XTRA Sports 1300,” said Sky Sox President and General Manager Tony Ensor. “It’s great for our fans to have their hometown Sky Sox on the only Colorado Springs station that specializes in sports.”
“We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with the Sky Sox across all of our stations,” said Cumulus Vice President and Market Manager Scott Jones. “Those game broadcasts on Xtra Sports 1300 will carry a little more flair than previous years and when combined with the great product the Sky Sox have on the field, we’re very excited for everyone to hear the end result. It’s going to be fun.”
All regular and postseason games will be broadcast on XTRA Sports 1300 with Dan Karcher, the voice of the Sky Sox, on the call for every pitch along with his broadcast partner Matt Pauley. Each broadcast will also feature a 25-minue pre-game and post-game show. In addition, the Triple-A All-Star Game and Triple-A National Championship Game will also be broadcast live on KCSF-AM 1300.
