Economic-development officials in Parkersburg (W. Va.) have commissioned AECOM to study the financial feasibility of a new ballpark.
It’s no secret Parkersburg officials have sought a return of independent Frontier League baseball. So have officials from nearby Bridgeport. And while the approval of funding will certainly impact any chances of pro baseball for Morgantown (Bridgeport is only 34 miles from Morgantown), there’s enough distance between Parkersburg and Morgantown to at least conduct a feasibility study. Whether there’s enough population or corporate support for pro baseball in Parkersburg is another issue — and that should be answered by AECOM.
