The new owner of the Yuma Panthers (independent; American West Baseball League) is already dropping his rebranding of the team and is seeking public input on a new name.
The Panthers have technically never played a game: the former Yuma Scorpions (independent; North American League) were pulled out of the NAL for the 2012 season and placed in the startup AWBL for the 2013 season before Tim Ferguson bought the team last week. After unveiling one of the worst logos ever, Ferguson wisely decided to embark on another rebranding effort, this time incorporating a name-the-team contest on the team’s Facebook page.
Fans have until Oct. 16 to submit ideas for a team name.
