The Jacksonville Suns (Class AA; Southern League) and the Miami Marlins extended their player-development contract through the 2014 season.
“We are excited to have the Marlins back in Jacksonville, and I fully expect the Marlins to send us a team that will contend for another Southern league Championship in 2013,” said Jacksonville Suns President Peter Bragan Jr.
Miami Marlins Director of Player Development Brian Chattin also weighed in on the new agreement.
“The Miami Marlins are pleased to extend our partnership with the Jacksonville Suns through the 2014 season. With its first-class facility, quality fan base and close proximity to our major league club, Jacksonville is an ideal fit for us. The Suns have been one of the best and most stable organizations in all of minor league baseball for a long time. We are proud to have them as our player development partner.”
