The Stockton Ports (High Class A; California League) announced a number of improvement for their home, Banner Island Ballpark, for the coming season.
Banner Island Ballpark, which opened in 2005, is the recipient of some updates for 2012, including updated signage all around the ballpark. This includes a new Welcome sign, an updated standings board, and brand-new historical signage at various locations around the ballpark. The latter highlights some of the Ports’ main historical trivia points, including an all-time list of Ports players who made it to the big leagues, a list of all former Ports managers, and a sign detailing all of the Ports’ current and past MLB affiliates.
“Given the history of the Ports franchise dating back to 1941 we have always made it a priority to recognize the players and managers that have represented our organization,” states Ports General Manager Luke Reiff. “Along with the addition of some new accent pieces at the ballpark, we are very excited to visually add a historical feel to the ballpark for our fans to enjoy.”
Another new area to notice at Banner Island Ballpark is the Humana Press Box, where new designs and displays will be featured all season long.
On the food front, the Ports are adding an Express Transmission BBQ Pit Stop in left field, as well as new concession items, including Caesar wedge salads, turkey burgers, deep-fried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
