Nice promo: staff of the Harrisburg Senators (Class AA; Eastern League) will walk the concourses at tomorrow’s season opener and continue walking if the team loses.
Starting at 6 a.m. tomorrow, members of the Senators front office will continuously walk around the Capital BlueCross Boardwalk at Metro Bank Park in shifts until the conclusion of the 7 p.m. game. If the Senators win, the staff can go home; if they lose, the staff will continue to walk around the boardwalk overnight in shifts until the conclusion of the game on Friday night.
“We wanted to do something fun to start the season,” said Senators’ President Kevin Kulp. “Capital BlueCross promotes healthy living and we thought we could promote that while at the same time raise some money for the YMCA of Harrisburg. What better way to tie in healthy living than with a walking campaign on the Capital BlueCross Boardwalk? We guarantee a win on Thursday and if we don’t win we’ll walk round the clock until after the game on Friday.”
The team will also ask fans to donate at the game, with all the proceeds benefitting the YMCA of Harrisburg, as well as join them on the walk; a schedule of when the staff walks will be posted on the Senators’ Facebook page later this week.
