Karcher to hit landmark: 3,000 Sky Sox games called

Colorado Springs Sky SoxIt’s landmark week in the Triple-A Pacific Coast League: tomorrow night Dan Karcher is slated to call his 3,000th game as the voice of the Colorado Springs Sky Sox.

Karcher is in his 22nd season with the team, a run that began in 1988 after the former Hawaii Islanders set up shop in Colorado.

“It’s been a great ride, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything,” he told the Colorado Springs Gazette. “I’m very thankful and appreciative of the fact that I’ve had the opportunity to not only do what I love to do, but to also work for one organization and for one owner (Dave Elmore) who I consider to be the best owner in all of baseball.”
