Dodgertown signs come down

Brooklyn DodgersAnother milestone with a tinge of sadness: All the old Dodgertown signs came down this week in Vero Beach, as the branding of Vero Beach Sports Village by Minor League Baseball continues.

The former spring-training facility of the Brooklyn Dodgers and the Los Angeles Dodgers now carries the Vero Beach Sports Village branding and logo in most places. The Dodgers reserved the rights to the term “Dodgertown” upon leaving Florida and used it to describe the general Dodger Stadium area.

Still left: the large marble Dodgertown sign at the entrance. In addition, the ballpark still carries the Holman Stadium moniker, named for Bud Holman, the man who brought the Dodgers to Vero Beach.
