Badell new GM in Orem

The timing’s a little odd, but what the heck: Jason Badell is the new general manager of the Orem Owlz (rookie; Pioneer League). Badell will be assuming the duties of current General Manager Aaron Wells, who is leaving the Owlz after accepting a professorship at Brigham Young University.

Badell has been spent the last three years employed by the Salt Lake Convention and Visitors Bureau and Utah Sports Commission as the director of sports market sales, attracting sporting events and meetings to Utah.

“Aaron is certainly hard to replace and BYU is lucky to have him,” said majority team owner Jeff Katofsky.  “However, we are extremely fortunate to have found Jason, whose experience in Professional Baseball and customer service is second to none here in Utah County. We believe that Jason will continue to increase the fan experience and operate the ball club in the first class manner in which our fans and sponsors are accustomed.”

Badell’s previous experience includes working for the Salt Lake Bees (Class AAA; Pacific Coast League), the Utah Starzz of the WNBA and BYU Athletic Marketing.  He is a graduate of BYU and is receiving an MBA from Westminster College in fall 2010.
