Gwinnett Stadium, the new home of the Gwinnett Braves, opens tonight, but the G-Braves front office gave us a sneak peek this morning. Here are our thoughts on the new facility.
After walking through Gwinnett Stadium, the new home of the Gwinnett Braves (Class AAA; International League), one thing is clear: every level of fans will come away with something to like. It’s a very corporate ballpark, designed to please high-end big spenders, youth baseball teams and everyday fans.
Most fans will enter from a right-field-corner entry or the main gates behind home plate. The main gate is open, and the accompanying plaza is designed as a place for fans to wait and linger before they enter the ballpark. This area is covered by a huge canopy, a nice touch that fans will like during a hot Georgia day; the shade will be appreciated. The concourse is shaded as well, both by the suite level and a canopy above.
