Rawhide unveil new concessions for 2009

The Visalia Rawhide announced new concessions offerings for the 2009 season, including magaritas and a bacon-wrapped hot dog. Mmmmmm, bacon. The Visalia Rawhide (High Class A; California League) announced major changes in the team’s concessions offerings to coincide with renovations and a new right-field stand at Recreation Ballpark.

The Grand Slam Grill, located down the right field line behind the Pasture grass lawn, will debut this year and offer new items such as French fries, sweet potato fries, and onion rings. It will introduce a line of vegetarian flavors, including a Vegetarian Greek Wrap and a Portobello Mushroom Sandwich. And it will feature signature grilled fare, such as the Diamondback Dog (a bacon-wrapped hot dog) and the half-pound Rawhide Burger, which will come smothered in cheese, bacon, and homemade barbeque sauce.

The pre-existing left field concessions stand, which is also undergoing a complete makeover for 2009, will transform into a Mexican bar, serving nachos, taco salads, churros, and, on select nights, burritos. It will also offer nine different kinds of beer and, for the first time at Rec Park, margaritas.

The home plate concessions stand also receives a facelift, as The Pizza Factory will install a pizza oven to prepare their famous fresh-baked pies for hungry fans.

The new offerings continue in the new Hall of Fame Club, which will feature catering from several well-known local establishments. Fugazzi’s, Amigo’s, Akamura Sushi, Acequia on Main, and The Marriott’s Zhou Restaurant will rotate from Tuesdays through Saturdays, with California Grill and Bakery providing a burger bar on Sundays and ballpark food served on Mondays.

“Fans will be in for a treat this year,” said club President Tom Seidler. “With the renovation of existing facilities, a newly built kitchen and concessions stand, and several local restaurants showcasing their cuisine, the food variety and quality at Recreation Ballpark this year will be the best it’s ever been.”
