New Hagerstown Suns Ballpark Discussions Renewed

Hagerstown SunsWith a sale of the Hagerstown Suns (Low A; Sally League) in the works, the city is once again discussing a potential new downtown ballpark as part of a larger sports-facilities plan.

There’s a LOI (extended recently) from a Colorado-based investment group to purchase the Suns. A new downtown ballpark has been on the team’s radar for years, as a replacement for aging Municipal Stadium is seen as being the future of the team in Hagerstown. Last night the Hagerstown City Council debated a proposal for a new indoor sports facility, and part of that involves potentially placing the facility at the current Municipal Stadium site. If the city and the Maryland Sports Authority decides to proceed with a new sports facility at Municipal Stadium after a study of the proposal, a new downtown ballpark could be part of the discussions.

More from the Hagerstown Herald-Mail on the sports-center proposal.
