Dow Diamond to Host 2017 MWL All-Star Game

2017 Midwest League All-Star Game

Dow Diamond and the Great Lakes Loons are on tap to host the 2017 Midwest League All-Star Game, with festivities scheduled for June 19-20.

“We’re thrilled to be hosting the Midwest League All-Star Game for a second time,” Loons President Paul Barbeau said. “With us hosting the game in 2008 and the success we saw with that, we knew getting the all-star game back here to Midland was something we wanted to pursue.”

The announcement was made at Dow Diamond with a presentation on the video board in the 3rd inning during the game against the Dayton Dragons on Saturday. Details about ticket information and a schedule of events are still being finalized and will be announced at a later date.

“We had the opportunity to bid on the rights to host the all-star game and we’re pleased that we’ll be able to bring the game to the Great Lakes Bay Region five years earlier than originally scheduled,” Loons General Manager Scott Litle said. “This is another step we’re taking to provide our fans the chance to have a memorable experience with us.”

Past participants in the Midwest League All-Star Game include: Albert Pujols, Chris Archer, Felix Hernandez, Miguel Cabrera, Mike Trout, and former Loons Clayton Kershaw, Corey Seager and Julio Urias.

The 2016 All-Star Game will be held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on June 21 at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium, home of the Cedar Rapids Kernels.
