Just days from their home opener, the Fresno Grizzlies (Class AAA; Pacific Coast League) are introducing Wild Things, a food truck that will mix up the offerings at Chukchansi Park.
When it comes to food, the Grizzlies have never been afraid to introduce bold concepts. This is the same team that has delivered menu items such as the Frankenslice—a pizza with a hot dog stuffed crusts—and that even took the field last year as the Fresno Tacos in honor of Fresno’s annual Taco Truck Throwdown. That promotion was received very well by fans, to the extent that the Grizzlies will don Taco jerseys during every Tuesday home game this season.
Therefore, it is only natural that tacos will be a signature item at Wild Things, which will offer both cheesesteak and BBQ pulled pork flavors. The unique food offerings will not end there, however, as the Grizzlies are also introducing several types of fries and sliders. Here is a quick rundown of those items:
• Fries: Flamin’ Hot Cheetos fries as well as Abuelita cocoa fries and caramel sea salt fries as a sweet & salty dessert
treat
• Spam Fries: Sesame seed and seaweed-seasoned Spam Fries (Spam cut like fries and deep fried) with wasabi mayo
dipping sauce
• The Urban Legend: PopRocks & cola pulled pork sliders (pulled pork with Coca-Cola BBQ sauce topped with
PopRocks)
Over the course of this season, it is expected that even more offerings will be added to Wild Things. The truck will be located down the left field line, near the existing Tecate Cantina.
“There’s no question that food trucks are an essential part of the culture here in Fresno and throughout the Central Valley, so it only makes sense that the Grizzlies introduce one as well with one-of-a-kind items for our fans they won’t find at any other truck,” said Fresno Grizzlies General Manager Derek Franks. “Wild Things” will soon become a Chukchansi Park staple and something our fans look forward to as a part of the complete game-day experience; it’s a ‘Growlifornia’ experience through and through.”
Wild Things is a partnership between the Fresno Grizzlies and Dukes Custom Catering. In addition to being at Grizzlies home games, the food truck will also be out in public and at community events away from Chukchansi Park.
Wild Things will make its debut during the Grizzlies’ home opener on Friday.
