You know you’re having a good year when you set attendance records in the postseason, as the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (High A; Carolina League), attracted the largest playoff crowd in team history last night.
The crowd of 4,003 fans at TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark is the largest playoff crowd in team history, surpassing the previous mark of 3,308 set in Game Two of the Mills Cup Championship Series on September 8, 2000.
The crowd went home happy: the Pelicans won 4-3 to even the series. Pelicans starting pitcher Brad Markey allowed one hit in eight innings of work, taking a no-hitter into the eighth. The two teams return to Myrtle Beach tonight to decide the series victor.
