Jeremy Aagard new GM in Fayetteville

Jeremy AsgardThe Fayetteville SwampDogs (summer collegiate; Coastal Plain League) have a new GM: assistant GM Jeremy Aagard has been promoted to the top spot.

Aagard joined the team in October 2006 as the assistant general manager. The Wadena, MN native joined the SwampDogs staff following a two-year stint in the Northwoods League as the assistant general manager of the Alexandria Beetles.

During his tenure with the team, the Dogs have received two Coastal Plain League Organization of the Year awards, hosted the 2011 CPL All-Star Game and Fan Fest, led the league in overall attendance five of the last six years and led the league in average attendance each of the last six years.

In 2011, Aagard was named one of Fayetteville’s Top 40 Under 40 by the Fayetteville Observer. This honor is awarded to men and women under 40 years old for their work and commitment to charitable organizations and their vision to continue to make Fayetteville an even better place than it already is.

“It’s been a pleasure to work for such great people as the Handelsmans,” said Aagard. “Lew and Darrell [Handelsman] have been instrumental in my personal and professional growth. It’s an honor to be in a position to lead this organization to many more years of success in this community. The team has built an incredible reputation and I look forward to continuing that in my new role. Fayetteville has been extraordinary with the support of our fans, sponsors and host families and we have always felt blessed to part of such a wonderful community. My wife, Andrea, and I are proud to call Fayetteville our home.”

“This promotion is long overdue for Jeremy,” said SwampDogs director of operations Darrell Handelsman. “He has been instrumental in our growth over the past six years and is well deserving of his new title.”
