Independent baseball is going to be a hard sell in the Arizona desert, and the first game for the Freedom Baseball League drew a small crowd at Scottsdale Stadium.
An announced of 637 was on hand at Scottsdale Stadium to see the Copper State Prospectors defeat the Arizona Centennials, 5-3. It’s a little hard to get any current information about the team: its Website isn’t being updated with game results, any information about upcoming games, any venue information or more. So far the league has announced play in multiple venues, but selling tickets only for Scottsdale Stadium. There’s a lot more to running an indy league than throwing up a website and buying equipment, and the business model here is a little fuzzy.
