Storm, tornadoes spare Rangers Ballpark

Texas RangersTornadoes sweeping though the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex spared Rangers Ballpark, though heavy winds lifted a tarp off the field and forced workers to storm shelters.

The storms and 17 tornadoes caused property damage but not much in the way of human injuries. At the ballpark, where the Texas Rangers were scheduled to take on the Mexican League’s Mexico City Red Devils, players and workers took refuge in storm shelters. Aside from the tarp, no damage was reported at the ballpark.

Catcher Mike Napoli caught some of the weather action and uploaded it to TwitVid.

The game was played after the storms moved through the area: the Rangers won, 13-4.
