BayBears, D-Backs extend PDC

Mobile BayBearsThe Mobile BayBears (Class AA; Southern League) and the Arizona Diamondbacks extended their player-development contract (PDC) for two more years, through the 2014 season.

“The D-backs are elated to be affiliated with the Mobile BayBears organization and the Mobile community for an additional two years,” said Diamondbacks Director of Player Development Mike Bell. “Bill Shanahan and the entire BayBears organization have provided an environment in which our young players can flourish on and off the field. We are appreciative of the support from the organization and the community. We look forward to more successes in the years to come.”

The BayBears have been connected with the Diamondbacks since the 2007 season and have sent over 20 players to the big leagues since beginning their affiliation. Additionally, seven former BayBears were on the D-backs postseason roster in 2011.

“Mobile is extremely proud to be a part of D-backs baseball and are looking forward to continuing our great relationship through 2014,” said BayBears President/COO Bill Shanahan.
