Couzens joins TinCaps broadcast team

Fort Wayne TinCapsMike Couzens is the new manager of broadcasting and media relations for the Fort Wayne TinCaps (Low Class A; Midwest League).

Couzens, who began his minor-league baseball career with the Syracuse Chiefs (Class AAA; International League), most recently worked for the Dayton Dragons (Low Class A; Midwest League).

With the TinCaps, Couzens will be a member of both the team’s radio and television broadcasts, in addition to handling the club’s media relations. All 70 2012 TinCaps home games will be carried live on XFINITY Digital Cable channel 81. Every TinCaps game can be heard on Fort Wayne’s ESPN Radio 1380 (WKJG) and through TinCaps.com.

Couzens, a native of White Plains, N.Y., served as the broadcasting and media relations assistant in Dayton. He provided radio play by play and color commentary on all home games, and was the lead radio broadcaster for 25 games. With the Chiefs, he served in a similar role providing radio play-by-play, color commentary, and hosted the pre- and post-game shows.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to be joining the TinCaps,” Couzens said. “I look forward to working with Kent Hormann and Mike Maahs on a nightly basis to bring the TinCaps into backyard barbecues and living rooms across the state of Indiana. It’s a thrill to start working with such a first-class organization.”

“We’re excited to have Mike as a part of our team,” said TinCaps Team President Mike Nutter. “He’s someone who we know will bring professionalism and an enthusiasm to our radio and television broadcasts that we know TinCaps fans will enjoy.”
