Despite talk about a move to Hi Corbett Field to make way for MLS training camp, the Tucson Padres (Class AAA; Pacific Coast League) will play at Kino Stadium for the 2012 season.
“We are pleased to have this deal completed before the season ended,” said Tucson Padres Vice President and General Manager Mike Feder. “It now allows us to move forward with all of our planning. Last year, we didn’t have our agreement until after the first of the year. Kino Stadium is a first-class facility.”
“I am pleased the Padres will be playing at Kino Stadium again in 2012. It is our goal to continue to work with this local group to make next season even more successful,” said Jim Arnold, Executive Director of the Pima County Sports and Tourism Authority.
The team has averaged 3,413 fans per game this season playing at Kino Stadium, last in the Pacific Coast League.
