Storm to Sheen: Come on down!

Charlie SheenThe Lake Elsinore Storm (High Class A; California League) are tempting the fates by inviting human train-wreck Charlie Sheen to The Diamond for a “Charlie Sheen-co de Mayo” promotion on May 5.

Of course, Sheen occupies a special place in the baseball world for his portrayal of Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn in Major League and Major League II, as well as a gig in Eight Men Out at Oscar “Hap” Felsch. The Storm is hoping to take advantage of Sheen’s current notoriety with the May 5 promotion, which will feature the normal Thirsty Thursday offerings, a limited-edition bobblehead, a “Wild Thing” glasses giveaway as well as the team retiring number 99 for the season.

Other promotional elements will include an in-game taco-eating contest, a Rehab-style party on the exclusive Tiki Terrace and a two-for-one Ho Hos special.

“As with any rehab assignment, we’re here to help Charlie embrace that ‘winning’ feeling,” said Storm Vice President/General Manager Chris Jones. “Also, as a show of support, we welcome all current cast and crew members to the ballpark that night for only two and a half cents.”
