The team went with a pricing plan that, quite bluntly, forced many long-time season-ticket holders to drop their plans because of the outrageous cost: tickets behind the grandstand now go for $900 and up, more than four times the cost at the old Yankee Stadium.
And guess what? Those tickets are not being sold. Opening Day — Thursday — is totally sold out, but there are seats for the three other games in the opening homestand. That the Yankees have failed to sell out the first four games in the new ballpark’s history shows how badly they messed up pricing.
