Indiana State announces new-ballpark plans, will make pitch for pro team

Officials with the Terre Haute school say the construction of a 2,500-seat facility will also aid in efforts to land a pro team.
Indiana State becomes the latest school to announce plans for a new ballpark. The 2,500-seat facility will sit on the site of the current Sycamore Field and cost between $1.5 million and $2 million. It will be financed by private donations and the school’s foundation.

Officials with the Terre Haute-based school say they’ll also make it a pitch for a pro team. Now, a $2 million, 2,500-seat ballpark will be a very basic facility, to say the least, so any league coming in (say, the independent Frontier League) would need to put some money into the ballpark.
