Burlington Athletic Stadium Receiving Upgrades

Burlington Athletic Stadium is being spruced up in anticipation of the 2019 season, as the Burlington Royals (Rookie; Appalachian League) are completing several ballpark upgrades.

Leading up to the 2019 campaign, Burlington Athletic Stadium is undergoing $1.2 million in improvements. A new entryway is part of those plans, along with a new merchandise store, upgraded restrooms, a four-window box office with new equipment, and the completion of offices for the front office staff. Some other touches will be put into place as well, including a fresh paint job in the stands and parking improvements.

Some work is still taking place at Burlington Athletic Stadium to finish the projects, but the improvements should be complete in time for the upcoming Appalachian League season. The Royals will begin their campaign on the road with a visit to the Bristol Pirates on June 18 to start a three-game home series, followed by a three-game set against the Princeton Rays before returning to Burlington on June 24 to face the Kingsport Mets.  The home opener will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony to dedicate the latest improvements to Burlington Athletic Stadium.

Fans will have the opportunity to get an early look at the upgrades, however, as a fan fest will take place at Burlington Athletic Stadium on the evening of June 21. The event will include tours of upgraded areas of the ballpark.
